March 2017 HOA Board Meeting

3/1/2017

Thanks to the neighbors that joined us for the meeting tonight.  Tonight's meeting covered a few topics I wanted to share with everyone.

Picture
Spring Planting
We're putting out a request for proposals to do some spring planting in early April. We will be working this week to identify the spots in the neighborhood that need attention. We expect to have proposals in by March 20 and a decision made the next week.

Bee Keeping
We revisited the topic of bee keeping in the neighborhood, but do not have word on liability yet.  CAM, our association management company, is going to reach out to the insurance company to inquire about liability. Should there not be an issue with liability we will announce it as a topic before our next Board meeting so anyone who wishes may attend and voice their opinion.

Community Trail
We've been in talks with the Austin Trail Foundation for ideas on how to best maintain our trail and improve it.  We'll be talking more to them in the weeks to come and have feedback / potential proposals for the next board meeting.

Short-Term Rentals
A question was posed by a homeowner as to whether short term rentals are allowed. Per our Declaration of Covenants, Conditions, and Restrictions (CCRs) short term rentals are not allowed. The CCRs state that only rentals over 6 months in duration are allowed.

Article IV – 04 03 states.
Rentals Nothing in this Declaration shall prevent the rental of any Lot and the Improvements thereon by the Owner thereof for residential purposes, provided that all rentals must be for terms of at least SIX (6) months
Home Repainting
As our homes age they start to require a fresh coat of paint.  Some have aged at different rates based on the color, craftsmanship of the original paint job, and sun exposure. If you're home is due for an exterior painting you will receive a notice in the mail from CAM soon.
Board Positions
As this was the first meeting of the year, the board elected its officials for the year.
  • President: Doug Matthews
  • Vice President: Morgan Witthoft
  • Secretary: Russ Hackworth
  • Treasurer: Bryan Phillips
