HOA Board Meeting - October 12, 2017

10/12/2017

Tonight's meeting was pretty light in official business; We had some great discussions. Thanks to all who came out and were part of it.

Social Committee

Zoe Wafelbakker was appointed as the Social Committee Chair. We're looking for other home owners to join Zoe on the committee to help plan more great events like the recent one. Thanks again to Zoe for making it all happen. It was well attended and loads of fun.

Annual Meeting

The annual meeting will be on Saturday, November 18 at 10:00 am. The meeting will be held at the Austin Community College campus at Stassney and Manchaca. During that meeting we will be discussing a couple changes to the by-laws that are artifacts from when D.R. Horton controlled the board. In addition, we will be discussing dues, or assessments, as it relates to planning for Grand Oaks' future.

Vehicles and Parking

We discussed various issues and complaints that have been voiced about vehicles and parking in the neighborhood. Here are a few reminders for everyone from the CCRs section 3.13.
  • Lot Owners shall not keep more than two (2) automobiles in such manner as to be visible from any other portion of the Property for any period in excess of seventy-two (72) hours.
  • No automobiles or other above-mentioned articles or vehicles may be parked overnight on any roadway within the Property.
  • No commercial vehicles larger than a standard three-quarter (3/4) ton pickup truck or standard two-axle passenger van shall be permitted to remain on any Lot or to be parked on any roadway within the Subdivision.
  • No (1) racing vehicles, or (2) other vehicles (including, without limitation, motorcycles or motor scooters) which are inoperable or do not have a current license tag shall be permitted to remain visible on any Lot or to be parked on any roadway within the Subdivision.
Not all of these rules are popular ones. A good time to discuss and propose any changes would be the annual meeting that is coming up.
In addition to these rules, please also make sure you are following city ordinances. Two common ones are blocking a crosswalk or parking too close to the crosswalk.
